My craft adventure... the beginning

Some of my friends knows that I'm a creative person. Usually in my free time I love to make things. I have always been sorrounded by creative people (as you can read here) and I always tried to make nice things. First love is paper; I think this is the most magical and inexpensive material I can use. It is possible to make so many things Just using recycled materials. Then cross stich is another passion: I started when my last born sister was coming. My mom, to make me accept her asked me to decorate a bib. From that point I loved to make nice things for my friends baby borns and then for my house, my baby and anything that requires a nice stiched decoration. For me cross stich time is an happy time: relaxing and be creative.

Last love is sewing (still in progress I've to learn so much!); this came up recently when I was pregnant. I love toys and sometimes to find the best toys for your baby can be a struggle. So with my mom (who is really good in sewing) we started to make some things for him.

Now I have decided to upgrade my passion and go to another level. In the following posts I'll talk about this adventure. Being a beginner you can find so many beautiful ideas (USA people-mostly women- are genious, so creative and pasionate about what they make, seems they save the world with a sheet of paper!) and also a large choice of things to make them. I continue to discover this world, a secret world, deeper and deeper, and day by day I discover new tools and things. It's very difficult to choose what is really needed (then in Kenya few things are available) so I even want to write for all these people who need suggestions.

So let's start from a scratch. The first thing I did was to buy some items from China. Yes I know what you are thinking a crafter buys only high quality things and chinese items are not famous for this. I tought the same (the prices were cheap, too much!) and I had to change my mind. Most of the things we use are made in China (almost everything actually) and buying directly from the producer lowers the costs. Online you can find milions of shops and the one I used was aliexpress (on my pintrest you can find a board with links to the following items). There you can find very cheap things and with free shipment; the only challenge is the time: if you are in a hurry this is not your place. I ordered on 11/11/2015 and up to now some things have not yet been delivered. The other amazing thing I discovered is that in Kenya if goods arrive in an envelope they are not taxed. Instead if it's a parcel, they open and decide it's value and tax it (and this is crazy!). Luckly most were small items and arrived in envelopes.

Here there are some products I bought and I've to say I'm so happy with them!

As you can see I love buttons that are very versatile for sewing and they can be use as embelishments. The handmade ribbon can be used to make so many tags to emphasize on the preciousness of hand made things. Then felt: I love felt and these 42 colours anchanted me. I haven't used them yet because I love them too much!

This is just the begining, stay tuned for more !!
