Here we are with the second episode. The best one. Yes I'll jump sewing because is still work in progress and nothing really interesting has materialized.
Let's talk about this wonderful machine. I always called it The Machine. I saw it for the first time in 2010 at a craft exhibition in Milan. It was love at the first sight. Many people might know it, for who doesn't this is a cutting machine, a die cutting machine. You can buy dies with different shapes and features (some cut any material, some just paper, some can even emboss and cut). I love it! So finally after 6 years it's mine, with a starter kit! It was really a struglge to get it and then understand where and what was better to buy. I've to thank Daniela from stampingdany who really helped me deciding which machine to buy (her blog is amazing, she just makes fabolous things).
So since here in Kenya there are no accessories for it I had to buy some that arrived with the machine....here a photo...

I decided to buy mixed brands to understand which is the best and what will be better to buy next time. Here some considerations:
1) There exists so many die brands that are compatible with the big shot: some are good some less. Of course some are cheaper (sizzix dies sometimes are really expensive). My favorites are:
lawn fawn: they sell clear stamps and matching dies. They are quiet expensive but the packages have many figures that can be used in many projects. The only thing is that they look best if you colour figures (they are very thiny). This brand makes really funny kits.
sizzix: their dies are the best. The dies don't change shapes, some have coordinated clear stamps and the bigz that can cut any material. Sometimes is worth to pay more to have better quality products.
Nelli's Multi Frame: they make multi frame dies that are very cheap. I bought the decorated rectangles and I use them always.
X cut: they have fancy dies, some very cheap. I bought buttons and I use them to embelish many cards. I Just love them!
2) Watching videos and tutorials is the best way to learn. I use Pintrest so much(okay I have an addiction, I promise I'll take care of this one day) to get ideas, discover the new products and more. Of course the youtube channel of sizzix as well the blog gives inspirations as much as other crafters.
3) I am not very good in calligraphy and clear stamps come in handy to express the sentiments.
4) Texture impression folders are the best thing ever created: I was not giving nmuch vale to them, instead of course I will invest more....embossing paper is easy , fun and turns even scraps to something precious.
See you tomorrow for a new post!
