Gardening with Babà

I love the idea of Giovanni having fun with the father. We mothers know, children stay most of the time with us and creating very special occasions father-son is very important.

So when my husband suggested to plant some seeds in the small space outside I was super exited! This is the perfect activity for Giovanni to have fun with the father. So I prepared for him the prawn to put outside with some accessories for gardening: seeds, some fancy wooden tags I found etc. As some of you might know I was born in a town so my idea of gardening is all pink and white with father and son enjoying time, smiling and putting seeds in the posts.

Well as usual reality awakes me from my dreams (unrealistic ideas I would say) and we discovered that something creepy was happening just in front of our home. Briefly we discovered that a wasp was laying eggs in our pots..and you might ask which is the creepy side of the story...well the wasp had killed small butterflies (we suppose were butterflies) and laid eggs in their carcass. And they were millions. It arrived and started to look for the pots, sometimes it comes back to check and of course finds nothing. The very hilarious aspect was that my husband was enthusiastic about this. Instead I was disgusted. Giovanni was laughing at me (probably) because I was shouting to throw them away.

So we planted different seeds and by now we have seen some parsley, aneto and basil coming out. I've to say that the taste is not exactly what I remembered.

But the adventure of gardening is not finished, yet. My husband was walking in the grass (yes we have a small space in front of the house with grass) and enthusiastic asked me to join him in the walk. Giovanni was perplexed when we started to look in the grass and we discovered... tomatoes that were growing!

If you remember my misadventure with Solò you will know that he was looking for oil under our compound. Most probably in this search he really moved a lot the soil and some water that was pouring from the sink had tomatoes seeds. So now we have our small nyanya (the kiswahili word for tomatoes) production.
