I’ve always been an agenda addicted. All my friends were joking about it because I was really taking care of my agendas and they were more a sort of diary then only places where to write appointment and commitments. Now I’ve discovered that there are some Planner addicted people (Martino and Treuti if you are reading this , just google and you’ll understand that my addiction is nothing compared to these crazy people).
I don’t know how it happened that we reached April and I don’t have one. I realized I needed one when it was already too late because millions of things were happening (at home, work, new projects to develop…and no place where systematize all of them). I went to several bookshops and what I found was not corresponding to my needs. Here they just sell either diaries (you need a luggage to go around with those agendas) or I found a planner but the cover was so ugly that I was not feeling worth to spend money for it ( despite the desperation of the moment). Then I decided to make my own agenda. I got a friend’s printer (our after the advent calendars gave up on us and decided to retire) and downloaded millions of planners, stickers, notes etc. I ended up with not printing and more thing to do. So I started to look in the house what was around that could be useful to use as agenda and my eyes ended up on this beautiful gift my sisters gave me. From here the idea: create your agenda with these week sheets.
I didn’t create anything new. Youtube and Pintrest are full of tutorials on how to make your own notebook. What I did was simply to cut a piece of ivory cardstock such that could fit as cover (I added ¼ inch more on the sizes) and I sewed together the papers and the cover. I added a stripe of embossed black cardstock using Brenda Walton embossing folder by sizzix (I love her Love collection!) et voilat my homemade agenda was ready. What I like of it is that between one week and the other there are two white pages where I can write my notes and ideas. By now I made for the next 3 months, then I will see what to do….
Another need I have is to organize thoughts and ideas in different notebooks. Now I’m really working on different things and I need to systemize my job. Combine my enthusiasm in making notebooks (trust me when I say that I take any excuses to make notebooks) + the video I watched from the website of Rita (she is an Italian artisan who makes beautiful things and has an interesting approach on the life)= new notebooks on the way. Actually this was the first time I made something for myself; in these months I created many many things but never for myself. So this time I decided to make 2 note books for myself. I made them with the same method for the agenda but I used some patterned papers that are even scented (love love).
To finish this little project I decided to make a cover. So I love Midoris (it’s a brand of travel journal where with a system of elastic cords is possible to add fillings and different notebooks). I had this beautiful Tie&Dye fabric and I decided to do a fauxdori (should be a Midori but made with fabric, even about this I watched tons of tutorials online just ask YouTube!!). But then I didn’t have all the materials to make it so I ended making a cover like the one of the notebooks but with the elastics.
So my idea is now to have the agenda where I’ll write all the commitments and the deadlines (if you think being a self employed you don’t have deadlines…puff you have to give yourself deadlines and this is the worst part!!). I made actually three notebooks: one for a collaboration I’ve in a school, one for my shop online/website and the last is for the blog and any inspiration I’ve and I want to record. The first two notebooks are made with squared papers because like this I’m able to be ordered and systemize well the concepts. The third notebook is very simple because I want to decorate the front page (I’m waiting for new materials) and inside the pages are blank and colored. Just to spread the creativity all over the page with no limits.
Well I love it!! And you??
